The most noteworthy thing about gardeners is that they are always optimistic,
always enterprising, and never satisfied. They always look forward to doing
something better than they have ever done before.
– Vita Sackville-West, 1892 – 1962

Vita

Vita Sackville-West was an English author, poet and gardener. She was known for her exuberant aristocratic life, her passionate affair with the novelist Virginia Woolf, and Sissinghurst Castle Garden, which she and her husband, Sir Harold Nicolson, created at their estate.

Last evening I had the pleasure of spending the evening with fellow gardeners. The Heights Garden Club met at the Heights Fire station for our August meeting. Much nicer to be inside during the summer. We had a meet and greet and plant and seed swap. I hope we turn this into an annual event.

There was food donated by club members and drinks provide by the club. The room was buzzing with laughter and chatting as we met new people and caught up with friends. There were plants everywhere that people brought from there own gardens.

We had good fun raffling them off. 20140807_194106Keeping the room quiet was not easy with all the excitement.

Local business donated door prizes. Joshua of Joshua’s Native plants was there and he brought some wonderful plants. We had  a gift certificate from Quality Feed on North Main. Wabash Feed donated a beautiful peach tree. Buchanan’s gave us boxes to help get the plants home. San Jacinto Environmental Supplies gave us a 40lb. bag of Microlife.  20140807_193926
