“I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.” ~Henry David Thoreau
Every day I put birdseed out under my arching rose bush just so I can look up from my work and see them gather! It is like my own private Walt Disney movie. I treasure them and can get lost just watching them go to and fro. There are blue jays, doves, crows, cardinals, wrens and little chickadees. I have a water fountain next to my porch and they missed it when it was broken for a week. So I have been putting out a bowl of water too. Today it is fixed and they are all taking turns enjoying it!
Here is a great PDF of pictures of Common Birds of Houston.
I am enjoying these little treasures that you post. They are made even more special by saying so much in so few words.
