Happy Valentine’s Day dear garden friends!
Here is a Dr. Huey roses from our garden. They are blooming early and just in times for Valentine’s Day. So I thought I would share them with you and wish you a beautiful day full of love!A single rose can be my garden… a single friend, my world.

I bought three of these roses years ago from the Antique Rose Emporium in Brenham. It has done fairly well but not really the climber I thought it would be. In the U.S. nursery industry they are used as understock. These are along my wrought iron fence and I planted them because I thought they would deter the dogs from running along the fence. I am thinking to cut it back a bit harder this year and see what happens.
Happy Gardening!
Roses. Mid February! The best we can hope for is snowdrops, winter aconites and helebores. Mind you, if the weather keeps warm(ish) the daffodils and crocuses will soon be out too.
Over here (south coast of England) Roses are for June, maybe on til November/December, whenever the frosts strike.

Yes roses in Winter in Houston. We can’t grow all roses but the ones we can love it here! I remember looking forward to roses in June when I lived in London : )

It can be variable depending on how cold our winter gets. Last winter we were down to 18 degrees and spring was a bit late. This year we have been having a couple of weeks of highs in the 70’s but next week brings back the cold and rain.

Hmmm, a new and good quote to me. But for me, the fully opened rose is more like then end, with the best part as it’s opening. Like me being a morning person?
